Laundry...

So, for all of you who are just dying to know what my least favorite chore is...well,it's laundry. There is nothing I hate more than loading the washer, trying to figure out which temperature to set the water, which cycle to put it on, and how much detergent goes in, then putting in the dryer, then loading the washer again, then putting it in the dryer, then loading the washer again, then putting it in the dryer.....what have I forgotten? Oh yes, folding/hanging and then putting away. That's the WORST. Yesterday I decided I was going to get to the 7/8 loads of laundry that are sitting in my laundry room begging to be folded (and has been for about 3 weeks now). So, after about (not kidding you) two hours of folding and neatly stacking (while the kids watched re-runs of Yo Gabba Gabba), I had about 12 different piles of laundry scattered around my coffee table and couches. Of course, an energetic and more organized mother would probably have put those away the same day. Well, I'm not that mom. Today I walk into the livingroom from my bedroom and pass the stacks of laundry sitting there, and of course I avoid looking DIRECTLY at it or it will be a sad sad reminder that that's what I need to do today. I walk into the kitchen because Caden is up from his nap and wanting food. I start to cook some chili when I hear him laughing. I always enjoy watching Caden find ways to amuse himself so I look over the kitchen counter into the livingroom and there he is...with one of my shirts wrapped around his head, and the biggest pile of "hang up" laundry on the floor, everywhere.

Looks like it will be round two of folding the same laundry that I folded yesterday...maybe this is an excuse to push the "putting away" back until tommorrow. (Always try and look for the positive in everything, it'll keep you sane.)

What does it mean to have Irish Twins?

Irish Twins (definition) n.- two children born to the same mother within 12 months of each other, or born within the same calander year.

My children are 8 1/2 months apart. (Yes, it's possible.) Caden was born December 8th, 2008 and Lilybug was born two months premature on August 26th, 2009.

First, you should know that having babies this close together is not recommended by most obstetricians and should not be planned BUT, if you're ever in the situation that I was put in, know that it IS possible and can be very rewarding.

I don't think most people understand the physical exhaustion that comes along with being a mother....let alone a mother of two children who have similar needs at the same time. There are many times in a day that I have to pick and choose which child to take care of. Neither of my babies are self-sufficient. I feed, bathe, clothe, and change diapers for both of them. Caden is walking, and always into things he shouldn't be into, and Lily is a bad sleeper and seems to always be hungry due to her prematurity. It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it.

Maybe blogging during Caden's daily nap will make me sane. Let's hope!
